Air transport in south Cyprus declines dramatically in Q1 2015
A dramatic decline of 95,6% air transport recorded in the first quarter of 2015, compared to the corresponding quarter of 2014, according to data released Thursday by the Statistical Service of South Cyprus.

According to Greek Cypriot press, specifically, from €26,2 million in the period January - March 2014, air transport fell to € 1,2 million in the corresponding period of 2015. Air transport amounted to € 29,4 million in the last quarter of 2014, just before the closure of Cyprus` national carrier Cyprus Airways announced on January 2015. T

he Turnover Value Index of Transport and Storage for the first quarter of 2015 recorded an increase of 1,9% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2014.

By economic activity, an increase of 22,7% was recorded in water transport and 7,3% in warehousing and support activities for transportation, over the corresponding quarter of 2014. A decline of 3,0% for postal and courier activities and 0,4% for land transport was recorded during the same period.
