UNSG under-sec for peacekeeping operations Ladsous calls on Akinci
President Akıncı yesterday received the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Hervé Ladsous and his accompanying delegation.

UNSG Special Representative in Cyprus Lisa Buttenheim was also present at the meeting.

Speaking after the meeting, Ladsous said that the aim of his visit was to exchange views with the two leaders and their teams on the Cyprus issue.

He said the UN through the UN Good Missions Office and the Peacekeeping Forces was working in coordination with the two sides on confidence building measures including the clearance of land mines.

Ladsous added that they will continue to work with the same determination stressing that the UN will continue to strongly support the talks on island.
