Guess how much the world's best Chardonnay costs?
A Chardonnay from Marks & Spencer has been named the best in the world at the Decanter World Wine Awards.
The British Chain’s Mâcon-Villages 2014 received the award for best under £15, having been judged by a panel of 240 judges, including world champion sommelier Gerard Basset.
Best non-alcoholic and low alcohol drinks
Costing £10, it is one of just 35 wines from almost 16,000 of the world’s best to receive an International Trophy in the awards.
Mâcon-Villages 2014 was blended for Marks & Spencer by winemaker Sue Daniels and Georges Brichon, of Cave de Prissé.
It is grown from 30-year old vines grown in limestone soils in Mâcon, Burgundy.
The Anthony Joseph Vidal Legacy Chardonnay 2012, from New Zealand won the award in the over £15 category, costing £39.20.
